Community Policing Solution to Insecurity in Nigeria
A member of Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) and clan head of Kasuk 1 in Calabar municipal area council of Cross River State, His Royal Highness, Ntoe Patrik Agbor Okon Edem has suggested that community policing will help curb the state of insecurity in the country.
The royal father said this while fielding questions from a Lens reporter in his palace. He explained the critical roles of house owners and co tenants in passing critical information about people with dubious character in their domains to law enforcement agents.
This way according to the monarch would nib in the bud potential crimes before they actually manifest. He said this intelligence gathering would go a long way in addressing high level crimes in the society.
He used the opportunity to condemn some bad eggs in vigilante formations across the country for acts of sabotage which often led to defeat and at times death of security officers. He commiserated with families of fallen officers who lost their lives in the service of the country.
