Court grants Emefiele permission to travel out of Abuja but within Nigeria
The Federal Capital Territory High Court has granted Godwin Emefiele’s request to travel out of Abuja.
The Federal Capital Territory High Court presided by Justice, Hamza Muazu on Thursday granted him the request to travel out of the FCT.
However, the court said that former CBN governor must remain in the country.
His bail terms had restricted him to Abuja, but Emefiele, through his lawyer, Mathew Bukka, requested for a variation of the terms.
The Federal government had preferred a fraud charge against Emeiele which was formerly six counts, but has been increased to 20 counts.
Recall the court had in November granted Emefiele bail in the sum of N300 million with two sureties in like sum.
His lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mathew Burkaa said that Emefiele was released from the Kuje Correctional Centre after his lawyers perfected his bail conditions.
