The new police commissioner of Cross River State command, CP Aminu Hassan Thursday Paraded a 21 year arm robbery suspect Mr. Godwin Ubong who was arrested at Ikom Local Government Area of the State with arms and ammunition.
Godwin Ubong told journalists on interrogation at the police command headquarters that he is a Mobil electrical mechanic and that the ammunition recovered were not his own but belongs to his elder brother Mr. Joseph Ubong a mechanic who escaped from the arrest.
The suspect also said that he has just completed his secondary school education from a parental background but has no money to further.
Meanwhile, the new police commissioner has solicited cooperation from stakeholder to combat the rising criminal activities such as kidnapping and robbery.
He acknowledged that kidnapping and other forms of criminal activities were high due to the border areas of four states and the Republic of Cameroon.
CP Aminu assured residents in the state of their safety and that they were protected by his men and other security agencies in the riverine areas of the state
He attributed the high crime rate in the state to lack of operational vehicles and called on the state government for assistance.
He observed that the image of the police was dampened during the End Sars Protest and that police image has been restored.
Aminu appealed to members of the public for useful information to the police for better policing noting that security was a collective venture.
