CP Rashid Afegbua resumes office as 48th Commissioner of Police in Cross River
The Cross River State Police Command has officially welcomed its newly posted Commissioner of Police, CP Rashid Afegbua, who resumed duty Monday, 7th July 2025, at the Command Headquarters, Diamond Hill, Calabar.
CP Afegbua arrived at the headquarters at exactly 10:00 am and embarked on the traditional Inspection of the Sentry Guard, and proceeded to the Commissioner’s office, where he was received by the outgoing Commissioner, CP Olusegun E. Omosanyin.
The formal handing and taking over ceremony were followed by a joint session at the Conference Hall, where CP Omosanyin addressed senior officers in a farewell message, commending their dedication during his tenure.
Rashid, the 48th CP of Cross River State Command, holds a B.Sc (ED) in Economics from the then Bendel State University Ekpoma; LLB (HON) from University of Calabar and attended the Nigeria Law School Bwari, Abuja.
He was born on 22nd August, 1968 into the legendary Afegbua Royal Family of Okpella in Edo State.
He was appointed Cadet ASP in 1992 into the Nigeria Police Force after completing his Youth Service in Cross River State.
CP Bello Afegbua served in the Administration Directorate of the Department of Training, Force Headquarters, Abuja as a Deputy Commissioner of Police until June 2024 when he was promoted.
The Police Service Commission, had announced his promotion to the rank of Commissioner of Police on June 7th 2024.
He was decorated as a Commissioner of Police on 14th June 2024, in Abuja, by the IGP, Kayode Egbetokun alongside Cross River-born CP Bassey Ewah.
