CRHA Deputy Speaker and National Assembly member-elect felicitate governor-elect over success at polls

The Deputy Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly and House of Representatives member-elect for Calabar South, Akpabuyo and Bakassi Federal Constituency Rt. Hon. Joseph Bassey, aka “PAPA” has congratulated Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, the governor-elect of Cross River State over his victory at the March 18, 2023 governorship and state assembly elections.

Bassey made the comment in a chat with LENS Reporter in Calabar on Sunday March 26, 2023 where he also thanked Cross Riverians and members of his constituency for voting for him and the governor-elect and promised effective representation vowing to attract notable projects to the Calabar South, Akpabuyo and Bakassi federal constituency as well as impact the people positively with life impacting empowerment programs. He called on all aggrieved persons to close-ranks and work together for the progress of the state.

Meanwhile, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the just concluded March 18, 2023 election in Cross River State, Senator (Prof.) Sandy Onor has expressed dissatisfaction with the outcome of the polls and vowed to challenge the result in court having analyzed and consulted with his legal team saying there is need to seek redress in court.

In a press statement signed by him stated that the election which produced Senator Bassey Otu as governor-elect was marred with irregularities and violence and does not reflect the will of the people.

However, he appealed to his supporters across the length and breadth of the state to remain calm and put their trust in God who ultimately gives power as he will certainly reclaim his mandate since the norm of every contest is that there would be winner and loser but stressed that the contest should be free, fair and credible.

Senator Onor expressed his heartfelt sympathy to families of these heroes of democracy and assured them that the perpetrators of this electoral crime would be brought to justice, if not by man, by God.
