C’River Bye-Election: INEC, Security agencies aligns on Credible Poll
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it has put in place multiple measures to conduct a hitch-free bye-election in the Northern senatorial district of Cross River State.
While speaking on Monday during an Inter-Agency Committee on Voter Education and Publicity meeting in Calabar, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Emmanuel Hart, said over 4,042 ad-hoc staff have been engaged and trained for the exercise.
He called for cooperation among security agencies, the media and the civil society assuring that the transparent process will ensure that the will of the people prevails at the end of the exercise.
The Cross River State Commissioner of Police Abdulkadir Jimoh, while assuring the electoral body of readiness for the bye election, said all the 565 polling units will be given adequate security.
The October 3,2020 bye election in the state will involve five Local Government Areas with over four hundred and twenty registered voters.
