CROSIEC announces fee cut for chairmanship, councillorship nomination forms; extends election date

The Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission has acceeded to the request of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Cross River to review downward the fees for nomination forms for chairman and councilors as well as extend the date for local government election in the State.

CROSIEC in its meeting slashed nomination fee from N5m to N1m for chairmanship and N1m to N200,000 for councillorship. In addition, the commission has extended by one week the LG election to guarantee a fair and credible electoral process.

Accordingly, the proposed Local Government Council election in the state will now hold on Saturday 2nd November, instead of the previouse date of Saturday, October 26th 2024, while campaign is scheduled to end on Friday 1st November 2024.

The chairman, Dr. Ekong Boco stated this in a press release on Friday October, 4th 2024 in Calabar. IPAC and other stakeholders are enjoined to note the changes and act accordingly.
