Cross River 2023: 5000 APC members defect to PDP in Northern Senatorial District

The All Progressives Congress last weekend in what appears as a political tsunami was hit by mass defection of its members to the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in a rally at TTC Field Igoli-Ogoja in the Northern Senatorial District of Cross River State.

The decampees numbering about 5000 were led by the former APC Chapter Treasurer in Obudu Local Government Area Mr. Agim Joseph Agim, Ushie James Odey, a former APC Secretary in Ukpah ward Bekwara Local Government Area, John Brown Ugbada from Yala Local Government Area and Dominic Ebia a former Labour Party (LP) candidate in the last Yala/Ogoja Federal Constituency by-elections.

Also, women and the leaders of the Hausa community in Ogoja, Yala, Bekwarra, Obanliku, and Obudu local Government Areas were received by the vice chairman of PDP in the Northern Senatorial zone, Chief Austine Edibe who commended their courage to destroy their brooms and join the PDP at the right time to salvage the state from APC misrule.

Speaking at the event, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, the “Lion of the Savannah” and member representing the Northern Senatorial District in the red chamber of the National Assembly advised them to be loyal to the party at their various wards and be steadfast, assuring them of more empowerment programmmes to accommodate everybody.

While welcoming the decampees into the big umbrella, the former Deputy Governor of the State during the administration of Senator Liyel Imoke His Excellency Barrister Efiok Cobham told the defectors to join the “OPERATION VOTE OUT APC” campaign team by getting their PVCs ready to bring back PDP to power for a prosperous Cross River State in 2023 because the party is a family that has a good reward system in politics.
