Cross River 2023: Veteran politician faults implementation of Back- To- South initiative; support Onor, Dansuki

Ntunkae Grace Eyo Ita, A founding member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State has said that the BACK-TO-SOUTH agenda in the state is not rooted in justice and equity given its segregative implementation.

The former PDP Board of Trustee member wondered why people would talk about the BACK-TO-SOUTH agenda with the exclusion of the people from the Akamkpa/Biase federal constituency. Grace said when she was approached to support the initiative her thought was the inclusiveness of all sub-nationalities in the South.

She lamented that the BACK-TO-SOUTH agenda is really a Back- to- Efik agenda and not to the entire South since no-body from Akamkpa/Biase axis has been considered for the Senate position talk more of the governorship slot since the return to democracy in 1999.

And fielding questions from newsmen in Calabar on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, Ntunkae Grace Eyo Ita said that contrary to the views of many, she is supporting the governorship ambition of Senator (Prof.) Sandy Onor of the PDP in the 2023 elections as he stands a better chance since his mother hails from Mkame in the Oban axis of Akamkpa Local Government Area of the State.

She also supports the senatorial ambition of Rt. Hon. Daniel Asuquo aka “DANSUKI” because of anecdotal ties.

Ntunkae Grace took a swipe on Princes Senator Florence Ita-Giwa for taunting two former governors of the state over the ceding of Bakassi to Cameroon when indeed she was in the trench collaborating with the federal government to trade off Bakassi. According to her, accusing Mr. Donald Duke is wrong saying that the former senator ought to be a role model to young people instead of overheating the polity.
