Cross River APC chieftains react to Governor Otu’s Supreme Court victory

Friday, January 12 supreme court judgment that announced Senator Bassey Edet Otu of APC as winner of the March 18 governorship election after a prolonged legal tussle in Cross River has generated excitement particularly within the APC fold.

finally defeated Senator Sandy Onor of the PDP over the pro-longed legal tussle on who is the governor of the state.

The supreme court in it’s ruling Friday had declared Senator Onor’s prayer to stop Senator Otu’s victory in the gubernatorial elections null and void having earlier been rejected by the election tribunal and Appellate Court in their separate rulings.

Peaking on separate interviews to the press on Sunday, January 14, 2024 in Calabar, some APC chieftains like Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Anthony Owan-Enoh, Hon. Okon Nyong Owuna, member of the House of Assembly representing Akamkpa 1 constituency and chairman House committee on Information, Communication and Technology, Chief Henry Igelle Onwe, a one time Federal House of Representatives aspirant described the Otu’s victory at the Supreme Court as a true reflection of the peoples overwhelming vote for Prince Otu whom they believe would turn the fortunes of the State around given his people first mantra .

In his contribution, the Deputy Chief press secretary to the Governor, Edem Darlington called on members of the opposition parties in the State to close ranks, sheath their swords and come together to work with Governor Bassey Otu to transform and grow the economic fortunes of the State as a step towards restoring its pride of place in the country.
