Cross River APC constitutes 55,000 election campaign council
Cross River state APC has unveiled a 55,000 Member Election Campaign Council to harvest 85% of votes for the party in the February 25, 2023 election.
The chairman of the party, Barrister Alphonsus Eba announced at the APC State Secretariat in Calabar during a press briefing on Friday, January 6, 2023.
He disclosed that the campaign council led by Nigeria’s former Ambassador to Mali, Mr. Soni Abang has adopted the slogan; “SWEEP IT CLEAN” symbolizing the effectiveness of the broom, saying the body has 2,500 members at the state level while the local government council has 52,000 members spread around the eighteen Local Government Areas.
After due consultation with stakeholders including Governor Ben Ayade, the governorship candidate Senator Prince Bassey Otu, and other critical senior members of the party have agreed that the time is ripe to move to the field.
The 2,500 state campaign council members will liaise with the 52,000 Local Government campaign which has been built into 27 directorates with the chapter and ward chairmen and all stakeholders at the local government level have been given full autonomy to constitute a campaign council based on their peculiarities and circumstances that would run between 10 t0 100,000 in each of the wards and polling units with the goal to guarantee that APC sweeps more than 500,000 votes which he said would amount to about 85% of votes in support of the Presidential Candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in the 2023 polls.
He also expressed gratitude to the APC candidate for taking the bold step to reconcile Senator John Owan – Enoh and the gubernatorial candidate Senator Prince Bassey Otu and also harped on the need for peace in the party.
Barrister Eba further disclosed that the APC presidential candidate would be in Calabar on January 21, 2023, for the presidency while the state party leadership would be on a religious pilgrimage to Jerusalem to seek God’s favour as APC has already won the elections ahead of time.
