All seems not to be going well in the All Progressive Congress (APC), Cross River State chapter as some members of the ruling party have disapproved of the outcome of the state congress that produced Barrister Alphonsus Eba, SA to Governor Ben Ayade on Due process held at the U.J. Esuene Stadium on Saturday, October 16, 2021.
Whereas in a simultaneous congress held at the state party headquarters, Hon. John Gallo-Egbeji emerged chairman and chief Frank Ekpenyong as Secretary with Exco members respectively.
A factional leader of the party who asked not to be named upheld that the action is against the rules of the game and party constitution.
But in a swift reaction, an APC chieftain from Abi local government area in the state, Chief Joseph Omini Ogburuwa who was a delegate at the congress, debunked the claim of a parallel congress by aggrieved party members whom he said are those who refused to align with the reconciliatory effort of the party during the revalidation exercise. He advised all party members on both sides of the divide to come together to build a strong force to wrest victory in the 2023 governorship elections in the state.
Ogburuwa also expressed optimism that APC will win in the bye-election to fill in the gap created by the swearing-in of Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, the former member representing Ogoja/Yala federal constituency in the Federal House of representatives.
