Cross River APC stakeholder felicitates Governor Otu on Appeal Court victory
A chieftain of the APC in Cross River, Mr. Henry Onwe has congratulated Governor Bassey Otu on his victory at the Appeal Court ruling in Lagos Wednesday describing it as another miracle in the political landscape of the state.
He made the remark on Wednesday in a chat with newsmen in Calabar amidst the celebration that followed the verdict of the court by well wishers of Otu.
Onwe who is the project coordinator of Cross River Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (CRAAMP) posited that with the appeal court ruling, the governor has been vindicated over his alleged rigging of the poll and not qualified to be returned elected.
Recall the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu of the APC winner of the March 18, 2023 gubernatorial polls upon defeating his closest rival Senator Sandy Onor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and which was affirmed by the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal on September 26, 2023 that Senator Bassey Otu was overwhelmingly voted for as the people’s choice to be governor of Cross River State.
Governor Senator Prince Bassey Otu in a state-wide broadcast on Wednesday November 22, 2023 has appeal to Senator Sandy Onor of the PDP and other aggrieved party candidates to come together for them to rebuild Cross River State in order to reclaim her position as the first Colonial Administrative capital of the Southern Protectorate of Nigeria.
