Cross River CP commends PCRC for summit on community policing

The Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command, Mr. Aminu Alhassan has commended the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in the state for initiating a summit on Community Policing.

Alhassan made the commendation on Thursday at the “2021 Security Summit” organised by the State PCRC in Calabar with the theme: “Security Now, Everybody’s Business.”

He described the timing of the Summit as very timely considering the current security situation in the country.

The Commissioner said the idea of security Summit was in line with the vision of the Inspector General of Police in maintaining peace and security across Nigeria.

“This is a very good thing which I must recognize. I commend the PCRC for creating a lasting relationship between the police and the public.”

Alhassan who added that the issue of security required the efforts of all the security agencies and the public, said the police was partnering with other security agencies in the fight against crime and criminalities.

The State Chairman of PCRC, Mr. David Amiye in his welcome address said the Summit was aimed at involving stakeholders to prepare to combat security challenges in “our communities”.

“It is in this regard that this event is imperative as it will avail some of the participants the opportunity to register as PCRC in their Communities, ” he said.

The chairman of the occasion, Dr. Martins Orim, the Chief of Staff to the Governor expressed hope that the Summit would help in curbing insecurity in the State.

Orim, who was represented by Dr. Alfred Mboto, Permanent Secretary Special Services (Governor’s office) Calabar, said the present security challenges in the country requires collective effort.
