Cross River FRSC sector command mutes synergy with NUJ
The Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Cross River State Command, Dr. Joseph Toby has sought collaboration with Cross River State Chapter of Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) to bolster a relationship that would enlighten the public and enhance performance.
Toby made the plea in a press conference on Tuesday March 11th 2025 at the Ernest Etim Bassey Press Centre in Calabar while fielding questions from newsmen at the media parley where he stated the need for every motorist to have a valid driver’s license and vehicle particulars with appropriate equipment to avoid being booked for traffic offences by road marshals on duty.
He reiterated the need for motorists to use the FRSC portal to check for details about the functions of FRSC to enable them carry-out their mandate in ensuring safety on our roads warning drivers against using mobile phones while driving, over-speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs to mitigate accidents. He said accidents are man-made and not caused by roads even though some may be deplorable but could be avoided with care because “it is better to be late than being the late.”
He disclosed among other things, the ability of the Corps to recover stolen vehicles and eradicate the use of fake vehicle number plates on our roads. He appealed for increase funding to FRSC for optimal operation to ensure safety on our roads and cautioned road users to drive with care using good tyres as the rainy season begins to safe lives and avoid carnage on the road.
Responding, the NUJ Chairman in the State, Comrade Archibong Bassey promised to collaborate with FRSC, Cross River State Command by exposing their activities in the media.
