Cross River gets new Commissioner of Police
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Usman Alkali Baba on Thursday morning posted a new Commissioner of Police, CP Gyogo Augustine Grimah to Cross River State.
Until his new posting to replace CP Sule Baralabe, CP Grimah was in charge of the Department of Finance and Administration ICT at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said CP Grimah will be replaced at Force Headquarters by CP Okon Okon Effiong while CP Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka will replace CP Effiong at the Rivers State Command and CP Zachariah A. Fera has been posted to the Force Criminal Investigation, FCID Annex, Enugu in the minor reshuffle ahead of the May 29, 2023 inauguration day for the President and Governors of some states including Cross River and Rivers States.
“The posting is with immediate effect,” the Force Public Relations Officer said in his statement. CP Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka will replace CP Effiong at the Rivers State Command while CP Zachariah A. Fera has been posted to the Force Criminal Investigation, FCID Annex, Enugu in the minor reshuffle ahead of the May 29, 2023 inauguration day for the President and Governors of some states including Cross River State.
Grimah was promoted to the rank of CP in March 2023 and had been serving as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations at the Ekiti State command for more than two years.
“The IGP has tasked the Police Commissioners to deploy all requisite assets in ensuring sanity, professional standards, and discipline in all ramifications in their new places of assignment,” the statement read.
While soliciting the support of the public for the newly posted senior officers, the IGP, “further charged the senior police officers to effectively apply their wealth of experiences to improving existing structural arrangements towards achieving a citizen-focused and community-oriented policing system.”
