Cross River Head of Service debunks claim of owing salaries, allowances of public servants and pensioners

In response to the earlier report trending in the media over a protest by youths said to have blocked the entrance to the office of the Head of Service at the State Secretariat along Murtala Mohammed Highway in Calabar, Mr. Timothy Ogbang Akwaji, the Head of Service of the State has stated that no civil or public servant is owed salary in the state and as well, not a single pensioner is owed pension allowance.

The HOS in an exclusive chat with LENS Reporter explained that the protesters are not part of the state workforce. But a group of the protesting youths alleged that they have not been payrolled by the state government months after being engaged.

He said they are investigating the authenticity of their appointment letters as His Excellency, the governor didn’t approve such appointments. He urged the general public to discountenance moves by enemies of the state to cause a breakdown of law and order in the incumbent administration in the state.
