Cross River North Senatorial PDP backs Jarigbe, Akpanke, Offiono following petition to EFCC
The Cross River State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has passed a vote of confidence on its lawmakers in the National Assembly. These include Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, representing Cross River North, Hon. Peter Akpanke, member for Obudu, Bekwarra, and Obanliku Federal Constituency, and Hon. Godwin Offiono, member for Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency.
The party condemned crptic plans by some individuals in the state to damage the lawmakers’ reputation. This follows a frivolous petition to the EFCC about constituency projects in Cross River North. Mike Ojisi, the state publicity secretary, made public the party’s stance after the first quarter State Executive Council (SEC) meeting in Calabar.
PDP described as unacceptable for a few unhappy elements to ask the EFCC to probe the 2025 Budget regarding projects secured by National Assembly members in the northern senatorial district. “We urge the lawmakers of the party extraction in the NASS to remain steadfast in their commitment to credible representation,” Ojisi said.
“They shouldn’t be deterred in their persistent efforts to attract dividends of democracy for their people despite being in the opposition party,” he added.
“The SEC, therefore, passes a vote of confidence on Sen. Jarigbe Agom-Jarigbe, Godwin Offiono and Peter Akpanke, of Obudu/Bekwarra/Obanliku federal constituency,” he concluded.
The party also reaffirmed its ongoing dedication to the core values of its founders and encouraged members to stay positive.
