Cross River PDP lauds sacking of assembly members, sealing off chamber
The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Cross River State Barrister Venatius Ikem has applauded the FCT High Court ruling which sacked 18 members of State House of Assembly and 2 House of Representatives members for defecting to the All Progressive Congress.
The court had held that the votes belong to the PDP on which platform they contested and won elections in 2019.
Speaking through the PDP State Secretary Hon. Tony Edako, Ikem thanked the Judiciary for deepening democracy through Justice Taiwo Taiwo who described the act as ignoble and rape on the polity.
While fielding questions from LENS reporter after issuing a communique from a stakeholders meeting held at the PDP state secretariat along Mary Slessor Avenue in Calabar on Tuesday, the publicity secretary, Prince Mike Ojisi thanked the security agencies for sealing off the Cross River State House of Assembly chambers Tuesday to avoid break down of law and order by miscreants who may want to cash-in on the impasse to foment trouble.
He called on all members of the PDP and lovers of democracy to maintain calm as we await further directives from appropriate authorities on the issue.
