Cross River State NUJ elects new exco
Mr. Nsa Gill has been elected as the new chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Cross River State Chapter to take over from Mr. Victor Odu.
Gill who is the Cross River State correspondent of the Nation Newspaper had 76 votes to defeat his opponent Ika Ibor of Cross River Newspaper corporation, publishers of the Nigerian Chronicle who got 50 votes.
The South-South National Vice President, Comrade Opaka Dokubo assisted by the Zonal Secretary, John Angese announced Mr. Nsa Gill as the winner in the keenly contested election.
Others elected to pilot the affairs of the union for the next three years include Florence Kanu Vice Chairman, Solomon Azu of Cross River Newspaper Corporation and Archibong Bassey of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) as Secretary and Financial Secretary respectively.
Other elected executives are Kingsley Agim Assistant Secretary and Achiane Adams Treasurer both from the information Chapel.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected chairman said his victory is for the entire members of the NUJ as he will operate an open door in his administration where every member will be carried along and urged members to support the new leadership to succeed.
