Cross River YPP Chair emerges chairman of State Inter Party Advisory Council

The Young Progressives Party (YPP) Chairman in Cross River State, Mr. Anthony Bisong Attah on Tuesday, September 6 was re-elected as the State chairman of the Inter-party Advisory Council in a free, fair and credible election moderated by IPAC’s National Secretary, Yusuf M. Danielle at the Independent National Electoral Commission headquarters in Calabar, Cross River State.

The event which was monitored by the Head of Department, Election and political party monitoring (EPM) unit of INEC, Mrs. Eme Eyo congratulated both the winners and losers and charged them to work together for the progress of the association.

A total of 15 out of the 25 registered political parties participated in the election with Mr. Bisong Attah of YYP re-elected as the state chairman of the body having defeated Ambassador Ogar Osim Obu of the Labour Party (LP) with 12 votes to 4 and Prof. Edde Iji of Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) with one vote.

Dr. Ambo Ekpeyong of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) who contested for the position of organizing secretary scored 11 votes against Mr. Christopher Eyibio of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) who had 6 votes.

Pastor Ntami Esege of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) contested for the position of the state secretary and scored 12 votes against Pastor Francis Ayi Ukpanyang of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) with 5 votes, Mr. Patrick Agbor of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) was unopposed for the position of Deputy Chairman.

Mr. Edet Edet of the All Peoples Party (APP) scored 17 votes to emerge as publicity secretary, Prince Michael Ojisi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won the position of financial secretary with 16 votes while Dr. Innocent Ekwok of NRM emerged as Legal Adviser upon scoring 17 votes at the election.

In an interview with newsmen, Mr. Attah promised to hit the ground running as 2023 is at the corner. He said strategic meetings will be held to commence aggressive sensitization of the people of the State in synergy with INEC to update them with knowledge of the new Electoral Act as it would impact next year’s election.

Attah as well disclosed that he would soon unveil the new IPAC Secretariat where they will effectively plan and execute their people-oriented programmes and activities.
