Defacto PDP woman leader promises to justify confidence reposed in her

The Consensus candidate for the position of National Women Leader ahead of the October 30, 2021, National Convention of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Prof. Stella Attoe has said she would justify the confidence reposed in her when she finally assumes Office.

She stated this in a statement made available to journalists in Calabar.

Attoe said that there was no winner and no vanquished, just as she extended her hand of fellowship to her fellow contestants.

“Let me assure you all that my appreciation will show better in my loyalty to our cause in the discharge of my duties fairly to make you justify the confidence you have reposed in me.

“I wish to let these great ladies to know that in the race for the position of the PDP National Women Leader, there is no Victor and no Vanquished.

“We are all winners and striving to contribute our quota towards the upliftment and sustenance of our great Party, ” she said.

She solicited the suport of other contestants to the position to join her in championing the cause of women in the party when formally endorsed.

” I call upon my two lovely sisters, Mrs Amina Arong and Mrs Nella Ewa (SAN) to join hands with me in working towards enhancing the role and status of PDP women in particular and the Nigerian women in general, ” she said.

Atteo, who is a Lecturer in the Department of History and International Studies, University of Calabar commended stakeholders of the Party for finding her worthy.

“it is a manifestation of the formidable bond amongst us in the PDP enclave, as it exists in the State today, under the distinguished leadership of Sen Liyel Imoke, and Mr Donald Duke, all former governors of the State.,” she said.

According to her: “these two great leaders were the original conveners of the Party in the beginning just as they have graciously re-dedicated their efforts to provide a formidable platform to move Cross River State PDP forward.”

She lauded the collaborative effort of members of the National Assembly from Cross River, Party Leaders, and local government caucuses of the party, other stakeholders and PDP members across board for their efforts in repositiining the party in the State.

She also commended Mrs Obioma Liyel Imoke, wife of the immediate past Governor, describing her as a formidable member of the party “and a great mobiliser and motivator of women in Cross River State.”

“She played a great role in bringing unity amongst the women of Cross River State PDP and the female aspirants.” Attoe said.
