Delta Govt. Inducts Youth Parliament to Raise Tomorrow’s Leaders
The first assembly of youth parliament has been inaugurated by the Delta state government as part of measures to nurture its youth towards positioning themselves in the various leadership positions in the state as well as projecting their voices to be heard in the affairs of governance.
In an election conducted at the hallowed chamber of the State House of Assembly which was preceded by an inauguration at the instance of the members of the Delta State lawmakers led by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Christopher Ocho and graced by members of the state executive council, Ohwoekevwo George Fejiro and Obuseh Gloria emerged as speaker and deputy speaker respectively.
The newly inducted Youth Parliament is made up of 29 members representing each of the state constituency. The speaker in line with the House protocol, commenced plenary by reading his acceptance speech and administering oath of allegiance on elected members.
Funkekeme Solomon, a senior political adviser who represented Governor Okowa at the ceremony and Ifeanyi Egwuyenga, Commissioner for youth development praised the platform provided for youths in the state to express their abilities.
