Deputy Assembly Speaker in C’ River wins fed constituency election, others
The Deputy Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Akpabuyo/Bakassi/Calabar South Federal Constituency Rt. Hon Joseph Bassey aka “PAPA” has been declared winner at the polls held on Saturday February 25, 2023.
Hon. Bassey scored a total of 23,885 votes to defeat the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Rt. Hon Dominic Aqua Edem who scored 16,448 votes while the incumbent PDP candidate Rt. Hon Apostle Essien Ayi got 14,448 votes.
The Deputy Speaker with this victory has ended the 20 years reign of Rt. Hon Apostle ESsien Ayi in the House of Representatives.
Also, CRSHA speaker Rt. Hon. Eteng Jones Williams has clinch the Central Senatorial seat by polling 57,334 votes to beat his closest rival and former Federal lawmaker Hon, Bassey Eko Ewa of the Peoples Democratic Party who got 53,453 votes.
Hon Williams of the APC was declared winner by the returning officer for the election Dr. Okeme Isaac having fulfilled the electoral requirements for the legislative office.
Meanwhile, Mr. Auquo Ekpenyong, Jnr. of the APC has been declared winner of the Southern Senatorial Seat.
Other results are Calabar Municipal/Odukpani Federal Constituency Hon. Bassey Akiba of Labour Party emerged winner, Onun Dr. Emil Inyang of APC won in the Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency and Hon. Alex Egbonna of APC in Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency while Hon. Mike Etaba of APC won in the Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency as INEC is yet to declare further results.
