Drama as angry husband smashes beauty pageant winner’s crown after his wife got second
Ordinarily, beauty pageants are often celebrated shows with ‘crowning’ the winner, representing femininity.
But it wasn’t a pleasant sight at the finale of Miss Gay Mato Grosso 2023 in Brazil where a trending online video showed a hot headed husband going up on the stage of the LGBTQIAP beauty pageant, snatching and smashing the crown of the winner on stage.
The reason for this unruly behaviour being, his wife Nathally Becker who represented the city of Cuiaba was not awarded as the winner.
While Emannuelly Belini representing Várzea Grande was being crowned at Brazil’s Miss Gay Mato Grosso 2023 on Saturday, May 27, the husband of 2nd place-winner Nathally Becker rushed on stage and took the crown from her which he smashed on the floor.
He picked up the crown again and threw it down again before trying to walk off with his wife, but he ultimately got stopped by security.
Organizers of the event released a statement after the incident, reiterating that Belini was indeed deemed the winner of this year’s event.
Talking about the incident, Pageant coordinator Malone Haenish released a statement condemning the behavior of Becker’s husband. According to Malone, Becker’s husband was agitated as he thought that Jury’s decision wasn’t fair and wanted the first position to be awarded to his wife.
The show authorities added that they will be taking appropriate legal action stating “The pageant’s “legal team has been informed.”
