EFCC set to arraign Sirika, daughter Thursday over N2.7 bn fraud
Hadi Sirika will be arraigned for trial before Justice Sylvanus Oriji of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will on Thursday, May 9, 2024, arraign former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika and three other accomplices over alleged contract fraud.
The embattled minister will be arraigned for trial alongside his daughter, Fatima, and two other co-defendants, Jalal Hamma, and Al-Duraq Investment Ltd before Justice Sylvanus Oriji of the Federal High Court Abuja on charges of abusing their positions to launder over ₦2.7 billion.
This development is coming a few weeks after the anti-graft agency quizzed the former minister over alleged money laundering.
Sirika reportedly accepted an invitation from the EFCC On Tuesday, April 23, and showed up at the commission’s Abuja office, where he was interrogated.
The anti graft commission had on April 23, detained Sirika as part of its investigations into the financial malfeasance allegedly committed by the former minister, including fraudulent contracts awarded by the ministry under his watch.
