Super Eagles coach, Augustine Eguavoen, has disclosed his winning strategy after the Pharaohs of Egypt failed to grab a win against Nigeria on Tuesday, in the ongoing AFCON 2021 tournament in Cameroon.
Eguavoen who spoke during a post-match interview after Nigeria defeated Egypt 1-0 on Tuesday said Nigerian players cut Egypt captain, Mohamed Salah, off the ball to record victory.
The former Super Eagles defender also observed in the match that Egypt depended heavily on Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah.
Salah, who was recently shortlisted for the FIFA Best Player award also made attempts but his attempts did not yield any result all through the match.
On subsequent matches, Eguavoen has promised Nigerians positive results and good performances after applauding the efforts of the Super Eagles.
In the words of Eguavoen, “Egypt is a well-respected team; we respect them, but we’ve players who should be respected too.
“We tried to cut Salah off the ball, and we tried to keep the ball. I gave the players freedom to enjoy themselves.
“We gave everything during the match, and we must play every game as if it were a final. We won the first match, and we will see what we do in the next.”
