Elder statesman warns Udom against repeating mistake of predecessor

An elder statesman and prominent Akwa Ibom state indigene, Dr. Uko Nsentip has warned Governor Udom Emmanuel not to repeat the mistake of his predecessor Senator Godswill Akpabio in his choice of governor in 2023.

Dr. Nsentip expressed this view while fielding questions from a LENS reporter in Calabar on Thursday, February 10 saying the status quo at the moment will create political tension and give room for miscreants to capitalize on the chaos his nomination of Pastor Umo Eno, the Commissioner for lands will impinge on Akwa Ibom State.

He referenced the episodes of the 2015 and 2019 election cycles when Akpabio brought the incumbent to replace Obong Okon Umanah as Secretary to the State Government – SSG and thereafter imposed him as governor thus overheating the polity and straining the desired unity of the state.

The statesman suggested that Governor Udom Emmanuel should position Pastor Umoh Eno for Secretary to the State Government and allow Itu/Ibiono Ibiono Federal Constituency their right to produce the governor in 2023 for equity, justice, and fair play. He likened the action of Udom to trying to shift the political goal-post in the zoning arrangement that had existed in the state before now.
