Enugu council boss denies allegation of witch-hunt by traders
Dr Eric Odo, the chairman of Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area, Enugu State, has said that the relocation of yam sellers at Ogbede market was not intended to witch-hunts anyone.
According to him, the relocation was done in agreement with the traders to develop the market.
The LG chairman, said the decision was never a unilateral action by his government.
Odo disclosed this while reacting to a protest embarked by traders in the market, who accused the council boss of forcefully relocating them.
They added that many of them lost their monies and goods in the process.
However, reacting, the council chairman denied the allegations levelled against him, describing it as malicious and calculated attempt to tarnish his image.
He revealed that the relocation is aimed at further developing the market to make it more conducive for commercial activities, with hope of improving the revenue of the council area.
Odo said that his administration was committed to developing markets in the area in order to make Igbo-Etiti more viable for investors.
