Enugu hospital board calls for collaboration among healthcare workers
Dr. Eric Odo, the Executive Chairman, Enugu State Hospitals Management Board, has called for collaboration among all cadres of professional healthcare workers in the state for optimal performance.
Odo made the call in Enugu on Wednesday during a visit to the government-owned Poly General Hospital, Asata, Enugu, to ascertain its infrastructural capacity and requirements for optimal performance.
The Chairman appreciated the effort of the newly-posted Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr. Nnaemeka Ndu, in ensuring that Poly General Hospital gradually got back on track.
Responding to the needs and requirements of the various sections of the hospital, Odo revealed that the Board would instantly provide the basic needs for immediate use and holistically overhaul all facets of its secondary healthcare service delivery.
On the shortage of manpower, the chairman revealed that healthcare personnel would soon be recruited and deployed to facilities where their services were most needed.
The chairman also called for value reorientation, introspection and attitudinal change among staff.
He said that the board was working assiduously to restore confidence in health facilities, increase uptake of services and improve delivery in all secondary healthcare facilities.
While applauding the newly-appointed chairman for the visit, the Hospital CMO, Dr. Ndu, expressed the hope that under the watch of Gov. Peter Mba, the Health Sector would receive tremendous support.
Ndu said that the support would come in terms of healthcare interventions, upgrades, equipping and provision of qualified doctors and other healthcare personnel.
