Environment commissioner berates prayer houses, transport company owners for defaulting sanitation law
Some owners of Prayer Houses and operators of transport companies in Calabar Metropolis, capital of Cross River State have come under knocks by Hon. Moses Osogi, the State Commissioner for Environment for disobeying the restriction of movements during the monthly sanitation exercise.
Osogi made the comment while fielding questions from newsmen at the May 25th 2024 routine exercise in Calabar, promising to close down defiant prayer houses and commercial vehicle transport operators to serve as a deterrent to others.
Recall the Cross River State Government under the administration of Senator Bassey Otu had reintroduced the monthly sanitation exercise to clean the hitherto filthy streets of Calabar witnessed at the inception of his government in May 2023 warranting his promise to clear the huge refuse and garbage heaps that defaced the nations tourism destination.
Osogi commended the impressive turn-out and response of residents in the last Saturday of May sanitation exercise and urged the mobile courts and security agencies to spare no defaulter caught disobeying the state in this regard.
Prizes were given to occupants of the cleanest streets with appeal for them to maintain the status as well as encouraging others who are yet to imbibe the season of Sweetness and Peoples First mantra of Otu’s administration.
