Environment commissioner reminds residents of periodic environmental sanitation exercise; debunks suggestion of contesting N/Assembly seat
The State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Moses Osogi has debunked insinuation by some individuals that he is planning to make nonsense of government monthly sanitation exercise by allowing indiscriminate disposal of refuse and unauthorized dumpsites in Calabar metropolis because of his political ambition.
Osogi who doubles as the Deputy Chairman of Nigeria Environment Commissioners made the observation while fielding questions from newsmen in Calabar on Monday, March 24, 2025 in response to a publication in a tabloid alleging that he is desiring to contest for the Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency Seat.
He said that he has diligently and satisfactorily executed the job given to him by His Excellency, Senator Bassey Otu to keep the environment clean within and outside the state capital since assumption of duty as the Honourable Commissioner for Environment and which residents have felt the impact.
Doubling down, he said he has implored relevant government agencies to assist in curbing the menace of unkept children believed to be Fulanis’ commonly noticed around MCC junction by Mobile filling station along Murtala Mohammed Highway as well as other spots and locations in Calabar metropolis.
He appealed to residents in Calabar metropolis, Local Government Areas, towns and villages to participate in the next state-wide monthly sanitation exercise on Saturday March 29, 2025 saying that there will be restriction of human and vehicular movements from 7:00 am to 10:00am to enhance proper execution of the event.
