FAAN Notify 100% Hike in Passengers Charges

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, has increased passenger service charge from the initial N1000 to N2000 with effect from September 1st due to the prevailing economic realities occasioned by the COVID pandemic.

The Managing Director of the agency, Rabiu Yadudu, while briefing reporters in Abuja on Thursday, noted that airport management is a huge capital investment which has been further challenged by the pandemic resulting in FAAN recording a shortfall of 90 per cent in revenue generation.

On the resumption of international flights, the DG said that only airlines that are ready for the operation will resume as some are bankrupt already because of the harsh economic downturn caused by the pandemic.

tt should be noted that this is the first FAAN’s press conference in its Headquarters in Abuja, since relocating from Lagos to the Federal Capital Territory two months ago, as directed by the Federal Government.
