Fed. lawmaker assures Ikot Uduak residents of benefiting in democratic dividend
The member Representing Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency in the federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Bassey Akiba has assured residents of Ikot Uduak community in Calabar municipal council in Cross River of his desire to attract development to the area for them to enjoy dividends of democracy.
Hon. Akiba gave the remark while fielding questions from a LENS Reporter in response to an appeal from the community for Solar Street light to illuminate the erosion ravaged vicinity.
Recall that a concerned resident Engr. Edet Udoh on-behalf of landlords in Ikot Uduak had written to the parliamentarian to come to their rescue by providing solar street light and additionally, requested for intervention to remedy the precarious gully erosion which has forced many residents to flee their homes since the contractor abandoned the remediation project by NEWMAP assisted by World Bank.
Ikot Uduak, a semi-urban community is sandwiched between Akai Efa and Old Parliamentary road with more than seven entrance roads in deplorable condition in Calabar Municipal Council Area with no health facility, school or town hall in the densely populated community due to government neglect.
