FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup: Danjuma tells ‘How Falconets Overcame South Korea,’ Onyenezide named MVP

Head coach of Nigeria’s Falconets Christopher Danjuma has explained his team was able to defeat South Korea in their second Group C game at the 2022 FIFA U-20 women’s World Cup.

The Falconets netted another late goal as they edged South Korea 1-0 thanks to a wonder goal by Esther Onyenezide on 83 minutes.

It is now back-to-back wins for Danjuma and his team who kicked off their campaign with a 1-0 win against France.

The Falconets’ next game is against Canada, who lost 3-1 to France in their second fixture.

And speaking ahead of the game, Danjuma said:” We will approach every match one based on the importance of that match and the opponent we are playing.“

Meanwhile, goal hero Esther Onyenezide was named Player of the Match in the Falconets’ hard-fought 1-0 win against South Korea at the ongoing FIFA U-20 women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.

In Sunday’s Group C second game, Onyenezide netted a superb long-range strike to seal the win and qualification into the quarter-finals.

Onyenezide is the second Falconets player to be named Player of the Match following in the footsteps of Flourish Sabastine.
