Five Women Cooperative Societies Gets 2000 Bags of Fertilizer From Rep Member

A House of Representative Member, Rt. Hon. Ntufam Eta Mbora on Wednesday in Calabar empowered five women cooperative societies with 2000 bags of fertilizer.

The house member representing the People of Odukpani/Calabar Municipal Council Federal Constituency in the House of Representative says the gesture is in fulfillment of his electioneering campaign promises to the people of his constituency.

His word, “the Nyahasang women had demanded that we support them with fertilizers, we didn’t only give them fertilizers, but acquired a big acre of land around the Margaret Ekpo International field for the cultivation of waterleaf and vegetables which were aimed at keying into Mr. President agricultural agenda.”

The Vice Chairman, House Committee on Housing and Habitat hinted that in no distant time he will commence the distribution of pesticides, grinding machines as well as giving grants to farmers. He urged the women to belong to farm cooperatives in order to enable them access the proposed grant.

This gesture according to him is to produce enough food and booster the economic livelihood of the people of Odukpani and Calabar. He stated further that his venture in agriculture is not unconnected with President Buhari’s policy trust in agriculture.

While expressing satisfaction with the orderly manner exhibited by the farmers during the ceremony, he urged the them to distribute the farm inputs fairly and equally. The recipients were happy and commended his effort.

The benefiting communities in the empowerment exercise of the honorable member were Ikot Awatin, Atan and Ediba. Others were Odukpani, and Nyahansang.
