Fmr. Anambra governor Ezeife is dead; Peter Obi mourns his passage

A former governor of Anambra State, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife, is dead.

According to a brief press announcement signed by Chief Rob Ezeife on behalf of the family and released on Friday, Ezeife passed away at the Federal Medical Centre in Abuja on Thursday.

The late statesman “Okwadike,” was born on November 20, 1938, and served as governor of Anambra State during the abortive Third Republic in the military era from January 1992 to November 1993.

Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate of Labour Party in the 2023 general elections has condoled the family and government of Anambra state over the death of Chukwuemeka Ezeife.

Obi who shared this on his X page formerly twitter, said he received with sadness and shock the report of the death of someone he described as exceptional patriot.

He described Dr. Ezeife as a detribalized Nigerian who remained dedicated to the cause of good governance and contributed immensely to deepening the democratic ideals of the country.

Obi described the first Civilian Governor of Anambra State as a father figure whose Wisdom, advice and encouragement greatly impacted him Positively and would be missed by all.

He prayed God to grant him eternal rest and those who mourn his passing the fortunate to bear the irreparable loss.
