Fmr. Calabar Dep. Mayor advocates equitable distribution of political offices
The former Vice-Chairman of Calabar Municipal Council in Cross River and political leader of Ishie Clan, Hon. David Nsemo has called for equitable distribution of political offices in the country to achieve fair and inclusive society.
Hon. Nsemo made the call while fielding question from newsmen in Calabar on Monday April 3, 2023.
Using the nation as a case in point, he contended that since the president-elect hails from the South-West and the Vice-President from the Northern the position of Senate President and Speaker of House of Representatives should be zoned to the South-South and South-East component parts of the country for equity to reign in the polity as well as enhancing national cohesion to bolster inclusivity among the different nationalities in Nigeria.
He as well proposed that for fairness, political offices in Calabar Municipal Council should be equitably distributed among constituents giving preference to area that have never produced a state constituency or federal constituency representatives or chairmanship of the council.
Nsemo used the occasion to congratulate the governor-elect, Senator (Prince) Bassey Out and other elected officials-Senator-elect, Asuquo Ekpenyong Jnr. Rt. Hon. Bassey Akiba, member-elect representing Calabar/Odukpani Federal Constituency in the National Assembly and Hon. Stanly Boyce Nsemo, Member Representing Calabar State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly for their successes at the 2023 polls.
He therefore called on winners in the 2023 Presidential, National Assembly, Governorship and State House of Assembly elections to extend their hands of fellowship to losers at the polls to fastrack development in the country.
