Fmr. National Assembly members brainstorm on state of the nation in Calabar
Senators and Honourable Rep members in the first and fourth Republics on Tuesday May 28th 2024 deliberated on the State of the Nation at their forum held in Metropolitan Hotel, Calabar, venue of the conference.
The program which featured reception in Honour of His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, Executive Governor of Cross River State and award of Icon of National Assembly presentation to him as a Senator. Also featured, was Book launch, Communiqué/Resolution of the conference by the National Co-Ordinator/Secretary Hon. Chief Barrister Tony Mike Akpan that was to declare state of emergency on food scarcity from the lecture by guest lecturers Hon. Prof. Augustine Ogogo and Hon. Prof. Ayah Obia themed: “Food Security”.
The imperative, sanctity of welfare and security of Nigerians is sacrosanct in the 21st Century Nigeria.
The National Chairman of the Forum/Chief host, Senator Ameh Ebute, CON, former Senate President implored the government to address the lingering food security in the county to avert impending catastrophe.
Dignitaries at the occasion include Senator Princes Florence Ita Giwa, Chairman of the occasion, Hon. Chief Judge of Cross River State, Honourable Justice Akon Ikpeme, and His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, Special Guest of Honour, Represented by the State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Erasmus Ekpang who read the Governors keynote address.
Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Rev. (Dr.) Etim Caifas ask God to guide the association, use them to advice the executive arm of government on the need to create conducive environment for citizens to enjoy the dividends of democracy as well as serve as think tank on legislative matters in the country.
