Former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke loses mother
The former Governor of Cross River State, Mr. Donald Duke has lost his beloved mother, Mrs. Genevieve Duke.
According to the message released by Donald Duke on Saturday, she was reported to have gone into coma on the 1st of August 2023 and afterward passed on Friday, August 25, 2023 at the age of 94.
“She slipped into a coma on the 35th anniversary of the passing of her husband and father of their five children, 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren” in a note released by him on Sunday.
“Her earthly cloak will be laid to rest on Wednesday the 30th of August 2023 on Grail land at Iju Hills in Lagos in accordance with Grail Funeral Rites.
“Invitation slips are required and plan for invitees to arrive at the venue from Monday August 28, 2023 at least one hour before proper admittance as the doors will be shut 10 minutes to the commencement of the funeral and reception shall be held immediately after internment at the Assembly Hall.
She is survived by children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as numerous in-laws among whom is Senator Asuquo Ekpenyoung Jnr. married to Donald Duke’s daughter.
The chief mourner revealed that, “the dress code is a somber formal attire, dark suit or native (without a cap), for ladies the same, dresses should be at knee point with covered shoulders for top and no headgear.
“Should you be unable to attend, my siblings and I kindly ask for your kind thoughts and prayers towards this incredible woman whom we were blessed to have and call “MOTHER”.
Already, messages of condolences are being sent on the print, electronic media and social media to the bereaved family on the occasion of this monumental loss of the matriarch of a high profile family in Cross River State.
