Foundation enrolls 500 in Cross River health insurance scheme
A Non-Governmental Organization, Ben Akak Foundation has enrolled 500 people in Odukpani Local Government Area in Cross River in the Ayade Care Health Insurance Scheme.
The Founder, Engr. Benjamin Akak while flagging off the exercise in Calabar said he decided to support Governor Ben Ayade’s effort of providing quality health care for the people of the State.
“I decided to support this project because government alone cannot provide quality health care for the people, ” he said
He lauded the governor for the initiative adding that it would prolong the lives of many people in the State.
He later presented the N500,000 cheque to the Insurance Agency to seal the enrollment.
The Director-General of Ayade Care Insurance Scheme, Dr. Godwin Iyala described the gesture as laudable and touching.
“We are here because someone who has the Goodwill: who thinks about the well-being of the poor; who cares for the quality health of his people, ” he said.
Iyala said it was part of the responsibility of any government to cater for the health needs of its citizens, “so, for an individual to enroll 500 citizens to access quality health insurance is worth celebrating.”
