Mr. Ocheja Ameh, Sector Commander of Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC), Cross River Command on Wednesday solicited the collaboration of the media to sensitizing motorists on safety rules during the ember months.
He made the appeal in Calabar when he paid a courtesy visit to the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Cross River State Council.
Ameh said that motorists need caution during the ember months which were characterized by high volumes of activities occasioned by festivities
“Officially, the ember months has commenced which is usually associated with volume of commercial activities.
“We want to crave your indulgence to assist us in sensitizing the public on safety rules and the need to adhere strictly to these rules while plying the roads to avoid accident, ” he said
Ameh disclosed that the Corps plans to set up a Technical Working Group in the State to enhance it’s operations, adding that the State NUJ was going to be adequately represented.
Responding, State Chairman of NUJ, Victor Udu thanked the commander for the visit, saying it showed the respect the Corps had for the Union.
Udu assured the commander of maximum cooperation of the media in the state as well as sustaining the relationship.
“We appreciate this visit and I promise you of a very cordial relationship with the FRSC, ” he said.
The chairman advised Journalists to always obey safety rules while driving and to ensure that their vehicles are in good condition.
