FRSC collaborates NOA on enlightenment of motorists on proper use of roundabouts

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Cross River Command has collaborated with the National Orientation Agency (NOA) to enlighten motorists in Calabar on the proper use of Roundabout in the State.

Speaking in a sensitisation roadshow in parts of Calabar on Friday, the State Sector Commander, Mrs. Elizabeth Akinlade said the exercise became imperative in view of flagrant abuse of traffic rules, including rules on the proper use of roundabout in the State.

“It has been observed that many motorists in the State, especially in Calabar metropolis, don’t observe traffic rules.

“That is why we embark on this exercise to sensitize the motoring public on the proper use of roundabout to avoid the accident, ” she said.

She said the theme of the campaign: “Give way to traffic on your left always” was to remind motorists of the need to drive with caution in line with traffic rules and regulations guiding the use of roundabouts.

The roadshow took participants to the Etim Edem Motor park Calabar, where the sector commander charged drivers to ensure strict adherence to safety rules to minimize road crashes.

“Always observe and obey traffic rules for the sake of your life and the lives of others. Always give way to traffic on your left, ” she said.

She added that after the sensitisation the corps would observe the adherence level by drivers before embarking on arresting offenders for prosecution.

The show witnessed a large turnout of officers of the corps, members of staff of the National Orientation Agency, NYSC Road Safety Club, Special Marshals, and Cross River State Traffic Management and Regulatory Agency (TRAMRA).
