FRSC deploys 1,181 personnel in Cross River during yuletide

The Cross River Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps said it had deployed 1,181 personnel across the state to ensure safety on the roads during this year’s Christmas and New year celebrations.

Mrs. Elizabeth Akinlade, State Sector Commander of the Corps disclosed this in a statement made available to Journalists on Friday in Calabar.

She said that the deployment includes, 341 regular Marshalls and 840 Special Marshalls.

According to her, the command had earlier embarked on aggressive Public Enlightenment Campaigns at various motor parks and garages to ensure that drivers adhere to road safety rules and regulations.

The commander warned that offenses such as “over-speeding, dangerous driving, overloading, route violation, use of mobile phones while driving, drunk driving among others” will not be tolerated.

“The Corps would make use of breathalyzers to detect drink driving for appropriate sanctions, ” Akinlade said.

She appealed to all road users in the state during the yuletide period to ensure strict compliance to traffic rules and regulations while using the roads.

The sector commander appealed to all motorists to apply caution while on the wheels as “it is only the living that can celebrate.”

Akinlade recently assumed office as the 20th Sector commander of the Corps in the state, replacing Mr. Ocheja Ameh.
