Fuel Subsidy Removal: Cleric proffers divine intervention as labour prepare for strike Wednesday
The lead Pastor of Gospel House, the home of The Gospel Deliverance Ministry International, Pastor James John has prayed for divine intervention in the hardship to be experienced in the fuel subsidy removal announced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his inauguration speech on May 29, 2023.
The cleric disclosed this while fielding questions from newsmen on Friday June, 2nd 2023 in the church auditorium in Calabar noted that God who saw Nigerians through the Covid-19 pandemic lock-down, End-Sars uprising and economic setback occasioned by the CBN Naira-Re-design policy will manifest him-self again and bring succour to the current situation referencing Romans 8:8 “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us later”
Meanwhile, despite assurances by Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari that there are plans by President Bola Tinubu to dole out palliatives to Nigerians to cushion the effect of the sudden removal of fuel subsidy aside assurances that one of the countries four moribund refineries would come back on stream this year while another one would be revitalized next year until all of them are revitalized, the NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero has announced after Friday 2, emergency meeting of the Unions National Executive Council (NEC) in Abuja that they have given FG and NNPCL an ultimatum to reverse the new pump price by Wednesday June 7, 2023 failing which the union will embark on a nationwide strike.
Comrade Ajaero said the decision was taken to force a reversal of the removal of fuel subsidy by the government as they are prompted to go on strike owing to the pains suffered by Nigerians from the abrupt policy.
