General Overseer laments lack of recgnition for Itebu science writing by Akwa Ibom government
The President and Founder of The Divine Covenant Zion Church Inc, Archbishop Essien Ubong Essien has blamed Akwa Ibom state government for failure to recognize a new writing form invented by Mr. Macaulay Itebu, an indigene of Mbak Itam in Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
Archbishop Essien while fielding question from a LENS Reporter on Monday at 2/4 Covenant Crescent, old parliamentary village in Calabar, Cross River State blamed the Administrations Senator Godswill Akpabio and Deacon Udom Emmanuel for not granting approval to Mr. Itebu to experiment his writing invention despite repeated correspondence saying if the inventor were to come from Yoruba or Igbo tribes their government would have encouraged him.
He used the occasion to appeal to Senator Bassey Albert Akpan aka OBA, the gubernatorial candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) to do the needful by giving assistance to Mr. Itebu to put Akwa Ibom State in the Guinness Book of Record like Pitman shorthand writing.
Also speaking, the inventor of Itebu science writing said he has obtained copyright for the writing from the Nigeria Copyright Commission but has been denied recognition by Akwa Ibom State Government despite repeated requests and appeals. He called on the Commissioner for Science and Technology and his counter-part in the Ministry of Education to come to his aid to promote the invention which would bring honour to Akwa Ibom State and the Ibibio nation.
