Governoors of Cross River, Akwa Ibom attended episcopal ordination of Bishop in Calabar

The governor of Cross River State Senator Prince Bassey Otu and his Akwa Ibom State counterpart, Pastor Umo Eno on Saturday July 22, 2023 attended the Episcopal Ordination of auxiliary Bishop of Calabar, Rev. Christopher Naseri in the University of Calabar.

Otu in his pep talk said the exercise is one spiritual refreshing ceremony to usher everyone into the season of sweetness and happy-hour both individuals have been clamouring for in the two states.

Bishop Christopher Naseri Naseri was born on April 5, 1970 and ordained priest in Calabar on July 5, 1997 and was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Calabar and Titular Bishop of Gurza on May 1st 2023 before his ordinations on Saturday, July 22nd as the auxiliary Bishop of Calabar on Saturday at the event held in St. Paul Catholic Church, University of Calabar in Cross River State.

A titular Bishop is a bishop who is not a bishop of diocese but an auxiliary bishop on full-time assisting a diocesan bishop without the right of succession. They assist the diocesan bishop in a variety of ways and are usually appointed as vicars general or Episcopal vicars of the diocese which they serve.

Archbishop Joseph Effiong Ekuwem is the Catholic bishop of Calabar with Rev. Christopher Naseri Naseri as auxiliary bishop.

Aside Bishop Camilus Umoh of Ikot Ekpene diocese and others within the Catholic fold, dignitaries from both states, Nigeria and oversees graced the event as well including members of the diplomatic corp from Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea who witnessed the ceremony performed by College of Bishops across Nigeria led by Archbishop Joseph Ekuwem of the Calabar diocese.
