Governor Otu appoints new Head of Service, Accountant General, 12 others
The Executive Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Bassey Otu has approved the appointment of a new Head of Service Dr. Innocent Eteng and Dr. Glory Tony Effiong as Accountant-General of the State aside twelve other positions.
This was contained in a press release signed by Emmanuel Ogbeche, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor dated September 21, 2023, referenced GO/PRESS/012/VOL.II/248.
Mrs. Anne N. Essessien appointed Auditor General, Dr. Eni Oden Ofem as Auditor-General (Local Government), Rev. Victor Edet as Snr. Special Assistant, Int’l Cooperation and Investment, Dr. Francis Odey Ntamu as Snr. Special Assistant, Public-Private Partnership and Infrastructure, Mr. Ani Esin as Special Adviser, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Others are Mr. Henry Onwe as Project Coordinator, Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), Prof. Emmanuel Eyo as Project Coordinator, Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management (NEWMAP).
Governor Otu has also okayed the appointment of the following into Cross River State Forestry Commission namely Mr. George O’ben Etchi as Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Abeng as member, Mr. Kelvin Ojong as member, Mr. Oyo Emmanuel as member and Mr. Isaac Obo as a member.
Otu charged the appointees to be diligent and serve well with the fear of God.
Again, the Cross River Governor Senator Bassey Otu has implemented free tuition fees for Cross Riverians in Public and Secondary Schools in the State.
In a memo signed by the Secretary to the State Government and Chairman of the Palliative Distribution Committee – Professor Owan Enoh, Governor Otu also exempted the payment of senior secondary schools examination fees in the State beginning from the current academic session as part of palliative measures to cushion the hash economic reality.
It read: “Following the adoption of certain economic measures by the Federal Government which resulted in higher costs of living for the citizenry and the decision to help alleviate the sufferings of the people, His Excellency, the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu has implemented a free tuition for all Cross Riverians in public primary and secondary schools and exemption of all Cross Riverians from the payment of the Senior Secondary Schools Examination fees in the State beginning from the current academic session.”
