Governor Otu performs $350m groundbreaking Grandlitora railway project in Calabar
Bassey Otu, the Cross River State governor oversaw the $350 million Grandlitora Railway Project groundbreaking ceremony at the Tinapa Resort in Calabar marking it a key step toward enhancing transportation and boosting investment prospects in the state.
Prominent state officials including House of Assembly members and Speaker Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, among others were present at the event.
The Grandlitora Railway Project designed to begin from Calabar and end in Obudu is adjudged one of the most significant infrastructure projects of the current administration with substations in Ugep, Ikom, and Ogoja. The three hundred and fifty million dollars project is expected to be completed in five years.
The significance of the railway project was noised in a speech by Governor Otu saying it will give Cross Riverians a contemporary and effective substitute for automobile transportation. This according to him would facilitate the movement of people and products around the state as well as boost economic activity.
Otu said the revolutionary project symbolizes dedication of his administration to scaling up infrastructure which is essential for development and economic prosperity. The project on completion would provide Cross Riverians new opportunities as well as establish the State as a hub for investment.
He added that the project is a game changer that will enhance state-wide transportation, shorten travel times, and ease the strain on the current road system thereby boosting trade and investment in the state.
