Governors aide build school for Ohaneze Ndigbo in Enugu community

The Special Assistant to Bayelsa Governor on Special Duties, Chief Chinedu Ugwa has embarked on the construction of a 3-story primary school building and civic center for Ohaneze Ndigbo worldwide.

The Ohaneze Ndigbo primary school/civic center which construction has reached advanced stage is in Umuigbo-agu Amurri Awkunanaw in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Ugwa, who is also the National Financial Secretary of Ohaneze Youth worldwide, said during the unveiling that the idea was to actualise the quest by Ohaneze Ndigbo to make education a priority in South East region.

He described education as the most enduring legacy that any leadership can bequeath to it’s people.

He said: “This project is in sync with the current philosophy of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide that education is everything and everything is education.

“Before the death of Prof. Obiozor former President of Ohaneze, he approved the setting up of this school.

“Just recently his predecessor, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, in his inaugural speech also reiterated the importance of education to the people of the South East- region.

“My desire is to start from here and then we move further to having Ohaneze schools at the secondary and tertiary levels. For us in Ohaneze, it is education, education, and education.”

Ugwa said that he decided to bring the project to his hometown to prove that charity begins at home.

While unveiling the project, Chief Anene Nnamani, President of Ohaneze Ndigbo in Nkanu West Local Government Area, who represented Prof. Fred Eze, president of Ohaneze Ndigbo in Enugu State commended Ugwa for taking the initiative.

Nnamani said Ugwa had taken an action worthy of emulation by other well-meaning Igbo sons.

“I commend Ugwa for initiating this project, Ohaneze primary school and civic center.

“I also commend him for chosing to site the project in his village Umuigbo-agu Amurri, it goes to show that he is a true Igbo man because Igbos love their homes.

“I, therefore, call on all Igbo sons both at home and in diaspora, to bring their businesses back home for the progress of the Igbo nation, ” he said.

He advised all Igbos wherever they are to make education a top priority for the brighter future of the South East region.

Also speaking, the village head of Umuigbo-agu Amurri, Chief Daniel Odo commended Ugwa for bringing the project back to his hometown.

He said he was fulfilled by the project and would love to live longer to see the realisation of the project.

“Even if I was destined to die earlier, I will now live longer to witness this project fully take off in my lifetime, ” he said.
